On the light happy side, I went to see a cool Police cover band called Stung on Saturday night. They were really good. And if I hadn't been dressed down having just come from City Beach, I would have had a drink & had some serious fun. Last Thursday's Girls Night Out netted a bunch of freaky men, I mean some seriously weird men. But we lovely ladies had a great time anyways! On the flip side, my best friend's brother died suddenly on Saturday morning at age 21 & the cause of death is unknown. Angi has been through so much this year with the death of her dad in February & the birth of her first child just 2 weeks ago. I am always amazed how she finds the strength to not crack from all of the bad pitches life has thrown her. I saw X-Men 2 Friday night. That movie was totally fun. Sunday I went shopping & finished watching the movie Zebrahead, which I really enjoyed. It is nice to see Black women get some interracial love as many times we're niched into a horrible stereotype as ignorant hyper-sexual beings. So basically, good enough to screw, but not take seriously. And definitely not to take home to mom & dad. I hate that. Even if I don't really date black men, & I have my own legit reasons for that, I think black women are underappreciated by all men. Even though my background is racially mixed, the world sees me as Black (although every German I've met thinks I am Dutch or Mexican) & I accept that with no problems. So onward I go to spread my message that there are intelligent & beautiful black women out there if men would just open their minds (& eyes). I know that many of my black gal-friends feel me on this & are doing their best to promote a positive image of black women as well. What's up with men not loving the black woman?

New York City has been absolutely fantastic. I have had soooo much fun here. The weather has been pretty freaky, but that hasn't stopped me. although I can't recall the last good hair day I had. *sigh* my trip has been abbreviated to the following just because talking in great detail would require that I sit in front a screen for at least a good 4 hours straight.
hell no, but I will give the highlights....

Saturday: left LA. Surprisingly on time!
Sunday: Hung out some in Albuquerque, NM. It was gorgeous! Saw Two Weeks Notice & Star Trek Nemesis that night on the train. They were alright.
Monday: Was in Chicago for about 4 hours. Walked around downtown Chicago, State Street & Michigan Ave. I'll have more time on the way back and I want to get some nice photos of Lake Michigan.
Tuesday: Finally in NYC. Went to UBS headquarters to visit some friends there. Then went shopping on 5th Ave. Went back to the hotel in Murray Hill and crashed. I stayed at the Shelburne Suites at Murray Hill. Great Hotel.
Wednesday: Woke up damn early. Walked over to the Empire State Building, Herald Square, the world's freaking largest Macy's ever, Times Square, Central Park South, Madison Ave between E. 50 and 70th St, back down Lexington Ave with the requisite stop at Bloomies on 59th/Lexington. Then ate cheap chinese food, caught a cab to Times Square and watched Aida. That was a pretty cool show. Awesome first time on Broadway experience.
Thursday: Felt sick from the fluctuating weather, so I rested. Got up late afternoon and walked back over to the Empire State Building, Herald Square for some shopping, Penn Station, grabbed the #2 train uptown to Lincoln Center to se the American Ballet Theatre perform Romeo and Juliet. Lovely production.
Friday: Woke up early, Walked up to Grand Central Station & hung out there. grabbed lunch at my fave sandwich/smoothie place here, Pret a Manger. Then I took the #6 up to Museum Mile. I stopped by the Guggenheim Musem & then I went to The Met. Next to the Louvre, The Met was the most amazing museum I've ever been to. The lighting & the set up just gorgeously accentuated the beautiful artwork. I got some Monet prints to put up in my apartment. Then I walked through Central Park around the 86th St Transverse as the weather was stunning. Lots of sun and people hanging out. I walked clear thru to the Upper West side. I walked some down Amsterdam Ave, around W 85th and then moved to Columbus Ave around W. 77th and walked down to Lincoln Center, hoped on the #9 downtown, ran to the hotel and went back out to meet up with my corporate office friends for drinks. I love Pat, she is so awesome!!! and I turn in to such a bad girl with her around... and with downing Cosmos... Great times there. =)
Saturday It was like a monsoon outside so I popped in to an internet cafe to check email & I was hoping to go to SoHo/Greenwich and the WTC site this day but that was a bust. Actually I was supposed to go to Boston, but it was raining there as well. I'll save that for the September East Coast trip..  I just did a lot of shopping. damn I am going broke in this city....
Sunday: I felt adventurous as the rain let up in the morning & I wanted to escape my Warsaw Ghetto-like hotel (aka Hotel Pennsylvania, which if you look on this link, my room looked NOTHING like this). I decided to walk from my hotel (on 7th Ave near W. 33rd Street) to the World Trade Center Site. On the way to the site I walked thru Gramercy Park, The Flatiron District, hit the edges of Chelsea,  went thru the middle of SoHo & Greenwich Village. I also walked through Tribeca and finally got to the WTC site about an hour & a half later. I think I walked like 5 miles to get there. Was awesome, as I hadn't seen those parts of NYC before, except the WTC in 1997 & the aftermath last year when in NYC. I ended up going past the site after paying my respects, & I walked down to Battery Park. It was raining, but I wanted to get my last few moments of NYC in. I saw the Statue of Liberty through the haze. I also was able to see the WTC memorial Golden Sphere. Met this really cool guy on the train last night & had dinner with him.
Today: I am in Chicago.

PS: I saw the Fluffer before I left home. interesting film, but a bit flat.

still tired from my trip & from the canoe/camping trip this past weekend. I swear I thought I was going to die on that canoe trip. I really did. we had the worst boat ever. we capsized like every 20 minutes, twice so badly that we had to be fished out of the water by people randomly around us. you know it isn't good when a guy on the shore is screaming "do you need a rope?" as the current carries you rapidly downstream. not good times at all. nor the whole "we called the sheriff & we were organizing search parties to find you guys". not good at all. at least I made it out in one piece & the camping part was a lot of fun, but the canoe part was just so emotionally exhausting. not to mention I am all kinds of battered & bruised right now. *sigh*

whewww! so my birthday was 2 days ago. I had a lot of fun hanging out with friends & doing different things. I didn't get smashed this year. Last year taught me that I am officially too old to drink a martini & 5 shots of Tequila in less than 3 hours. my poor liver. Lior's wedding is this Sunday night & I am very excited. A little wary cause I know the guy who broke my heart will be there as well. I believe I am over what he did to me plus I know that I deserve better in my life. Besides, I am going to support Lior.
So I was fiddling around on this astrology site to kill time & I did this
what sign is your soulmate type quiz. So according to this quiz,  the sign that will make me happiest is Leo, with Libra as runner up. I thought that was pretty interesting considering I have only gone out with one Leo in my life. No Libras. Usually I am attracted to men who are Aries or Virgos, although not intentionally. That's also the majority of what I have dated. Somewhere in a conversation their birthday comes out & damn if it 9 out of 10 isn't one of those 2 signs. I've actually started bracing myself when the topic of birthdays comes around, fearing the worst (Aries). Virgos I don't mind. wow, this is a lot of astrology talk. It's like high school all over again. =)

I LOVE that Beyonce song "Crazy In Love"!
Lior's wedding was so beautiful. It totally made me believe in love again, which was not easy. It would be wonderful to find a man who loves me as much as Lior loves Renee. Especially after all of the bums I have dated. Also, I got to practice some of my Israeli folk dancing. My hebrew certainly got a workout! I am happy to not have caught the bouquet as well! =)  Special shout out to Trina for being my "date" since Mark had to bail last minute. love ya girlie! As for Sandstone, this is what I should have said to you at the wedding: With everything that has happened between us, I don't believe we could ever start over even as just friends. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I am glad that we resolved my snubbing you amicably. I am not angry at you, & my feelings of needing retribution have disappeared but there was just too much hurt for forgviness to come any time soon. I don't wish you any ill as you're not an evil person even though you caused me tremendous pain with your words & actions, but I wish for myself better than you were ever able to give me. I know that the love I deserve is out there, but it broke my heart deeply that you were never able to give that to me. I know that you never understood my feelings for you nor did you ever really understand me, but I am happy now knowing that my ability to love has a renewed faith; that I have people around me who love me dearly and see me as a wonderful, loving & kind human being & that is why I am able to tell you this. I wish you happiness in your future & I hope that you wish me the same. Goodbye.

I had a great weekend! It was so busy though. Friday night I saw Charlie's Angels 2. Not a good movie, but it was freakin' hilarious. I think we all had a good time watching it. Saturday Night was my friend's BBQ, in which I had a lot of fun, but quite possibly too much sangria. but I do love sangria... met some cool folks & got to see some peeps I hadn't seen in a while. Sunday was Alberto's goodbye BBQ. I can't believe he is moving back to Mexico. I am so sad that I won't hear the pringles line anymore from him. I'll always have his
friendster testimonial. Then I went to my aunt's for a BBQ for family members  that were in town from Louisiana. I was just so burned out by that point, but I was glad to see them. Going to play tennis tomorrow night. I haven't played in a few years... since Trina & I had our biweekly  kick ass singles matches (the williams sisters have nothing on us!). i am pretty excited about that. Plus I get to shake my groove thing at Oasis on Thursday night. =)  I need to look in to getting tickets for the 50cent/Jay Z Roc the Mic tour.

4th of July weekend was fun!!! I had a good time out with friends. I got to see fireworks & go out to dinner. Saw T3. That was a funny movie. I danced my ass off at Oasis Thursday night. I didn't climb into bed til 6am. Yes, I am still somewhat young & energetic!!! Tonight is girls night in at my place, where we will watch a Margaret Cho video & talk about having hot rabid monkey sex (but not with each other... sorry boys). I decided to be bold yesterday about something & I am starting think maybe I was  a tad too aggressive. I hate when I am filled with doubt like this. I hope that everything works itself out okay. definitely a wait & see time for me...
okay, everytime i take one of my friend's quizzes on
her website, i always get some response where I am a siren or some sexual creature. what is up with that?? like i am some women who calls men to their doom....
