ONION RINGS

3 medium onions~ cut in slices and separated into rings soak in bowl of water
dip in bowl of dry flour
dip in bowl of egg wash (2 eggs beat with 1/2 cup milk or water)
Then bread them with 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup cornflour, dash salt and pepper to taste. We also used a little garlic powder.
Heat solid shortening to hot over med to medium high heat in skillet and add the onion rings in one layer; may need to flip over and cook if oil not deep enough cook til light golden brown then drain on paper towel lined serving dish.
