4 cups flour
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/2 cup warm water
2 tsp. salt

Mix ingredients by hand and let dough rest for 15 - 20 minutes.

To make each tortilla, roll the dough by hand into a ball about the size of a doughnut hole. On a lightly floured surface, use a rolling pin to flatten the ball of dough into a flat 8 - 9 inch circle.

Place the tortilla on a medium-hot ungreased skillet/griddle. Cook about 30 seconds or until puffy. Turn with a spatula and cook about 30 seconds more or until the edges start to curl up.
