Hot Water Pastry

1 c minus 2 T shortening
1/4 c hot water
1 T milk
2-1/4 c flour
1/2 t salt
Place shortening in large bowl (I used my mixer bowl). Pour hot water and milk over the shortening. With a fork, break up the shortening, then whip the 2 together until it looks like whipped cream. Pour flour and salt in, mix with fork (I used dough hooks). Dough should clean sides of bowl. Divide into 2 parts, roll out between 2 sheets of wax paper. You may need to chill the dough a bit after making it, depending on what you are using it for. I made the crust in the pie plate and then stuck it in the frig for awhile so it would firm up a bit.
