CORN DOGS

Ingredients...
1 cup flour
2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons shortning
1 beaten egg
3/4 cup milk
1lb hot dogs/Veggie dogs
cooking oil

Directions.....
In bowl combine flour,cornmeal,sugar,baking powder,salt and dry mustard.Cut in shortning until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.Mix egg and milk together in small bowl.Add to dry ingredients;mix well.Indert wooden skewers into ends of the hotdogs.Pour oil into skillet to the debth of 1-inch.Heat oil to *375.(I use an electric wok)Coat your hotdogs with the batter(If you find your batter is to thick mix 2 tablespoons milk).Arrange coated hotdogs 3 at a time in the hot oil.Turn your hotdogs with tongs after 10 seconds(so your batter doesn't run off)Cook dogs for 3 minutes turning half way through.

*I found the easiest way to coat the dogs was stick the batter in a tall cup and "dip" them in after putting them on the sticks
