| French Toast
This recipe originally used Sara Lee pound cake but we can always substitute. 4 slices, each 3/4" thick of Pound Cake 2 eggs 1/4 c. heavy cream or 2/3 c. milk 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp salt 3 T. butter of margarine Confectioners Sugar In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, cream or milk, extracts and spices. Soak pound cake slices in the mixture, making sure all side and top of each slice are saturated. Let sit for 5 minutes. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Transfer soaked pound cake slices to a heated skillet and fry until gold brown, turning once. Dust with confectioners sugar and top with maple syrup. |
