GLAZED DONUTS

1 pkg yeast
1 cup water
1 cup scalded milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
7 cups flour
1/2 cup melted butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Disolve yeast in water. Mix milk, sugar and salt together, cool to lukewarm. Add yeast.

Add 4 cups flour, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in butter or shortening, eggs and vanilla. Add 3 more cups flour, knead until smooth. Let rise until doubled, about 2 1/2 hours. Punch down, then roll to 1/2 inch thickness on floured surface. Cut out doughnuts with cutter, lay on clean towels (imortant to do this!) over cookie sheets, and let rise til double. Deep fry at 375, turning once. Glaze while warm.
