| Meringue cookies
2 egg whites, separate from fridge, then let whites come to room temp. in mixing bowl. 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 cup sugar Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar, and vanilla to soft peaks. Gradually add sugar, beating until sugar dissolves, mixture gets glossy, and forms very stiff peaks. Pipe onto parchment paper on a cookie sheet. I made stars, but any shape would be fine. Put in a 400 degree oven, and immediatly turn oven off. Let them sit in the oven for about 3 hours, or till oven is completely cool. |
