We have made this ever since I was a child. It's like hard candy. Will look a little plain this year with no coloring, the Dancing Deer colors would be great. It looks like stained glass.
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrp
1 tsp flavor extract (whatever your family likes)
food coloring (if you have approved substitute)
stir until mixed. Heat (stirring occassionally) until it reaches soft crack stage (about 10-15 minutes).
Remove from heat and add 1 tsp flavoring and color to sight. Pour in greased jelly roll pan. Place in cool place until hard. Let your child drop the pan onto the counter to break into mouth sized pieces.
