FEHRAN-Class Patrol Boat

FEHRAN-Class is the main patrol boat of the Fehran System; In fact it was developed specifically for the control of Fehra during the earliest part of the interdiction of Fehra.

The FEHRAN-Class was developed from the hull of a PREDATOR-Class Patrol Boat from Terra that was accidentally loaded up on UES WISCONSIN (HSTC-0302). No explanation of why the ALLIGATOR was loaded up, and its suspected that the ship might have been loaded up as some sort of joke.
The ships are a strange combination of Terran hull design (PREDATOR-Class) and Veritechnology (the original power/thrust plant was a Terran-designed Veritech Rocket Pack), Tsentrdi weapons mounting (using the ball mounts from the Tsentrdi Regult), and Pertytonian aerodynamics (they actually built the hull plating that gave the ship its unusual profile).
The ships are said to have a gaudy appearance, and those whove served on them complain about the conditions as cramped. This is not helped by the earliest days of the class, when artificial gravity wasnt installed due to cost.
The patrol boats hull is dominated by the quad TT-41 thrusters, located aft of a transparisteel observation dome. Berthing is located in the forward sections of the hull, messing in the amidships section; The ladder to the cockpit/chartroom/radio room reaches up from the Messdeck. The small-arms armory is located on the Messdeck, along with the Battle Aid Station (first responder and other medical equipment). The ships also have a couple of drones for some tasks that are either too menial or dangerous for a biologic crew member. A couple of space fighters and a shuttle can also make up the ships complement; Two SF-1 Spacers Space Fighters and a ROIL TILVO-Class shuttle fulfill these roles.
The ships also feature a pair of vanes at the stern of the ship, which served as ailerons for atmospheric flight, and 3 retractable rods on each side of the ship which provided a place for the maneuvering jets. The ships armament included 6 Dual PBCs mounted beneath the superstructures ridge which are powered by the vessels power core.
Unfortunately, the design proved less popular than originally anticipated, especially after the fall of Fehra, and currently only a few dozen examples exist; All but two are in the Fehran system (one is at the Historic Anchorage at Terra, the other at the Zor Robotechnology Institute, UES ZOR UDF-014, Tirol).

MDC of Main Hull: 200

Speed and Statistical Data:
Maximum Speed (atmospheric): 400 mph.
Length 800 feet
Power/Thrust Plant: 2 Ubrikkian N2 ion engines.
Small Craft Complement: Twin SF-1 Spacer Space Fighters, one ROIL TILVO-Class Assault Shuttle.

Weapons Systems
1. Twin Particle Beam Cannons (6):
The same as the Twin PBCs used on the Strike Veritech.

2. Twin Forward Missile Launchers: Originally used on the Super Veritech. They have been modified to use either SRMs or MRMs.
Payload: 20 short range missiles or 10 medium range missiles or any combination thereof (ie 18 SRMs and 1 MRM).

Features:

  • Radar: Combat grade radar, 2,000 miles at 2,000 individual targets, 95% reliability (24% against unfriendly stealthed vehicles).
  • Expanded AMC/FD (2): Anti-Missile Chaff/Flare Dispensers. Actually launches a glob of burning magnesium/aluminum alloy to confuse both radar AND heat sensory systems. Fires off 04 chaff/flares each time it is activated. The system is KNOWN to work on all KNOWN radar and infrared systems, but concerns continue that somewhere out there their MIGHT be a system that will be totally unaffected by the system. Reduce effects by 20% against smart missiles (add +20% to rolls for smart missiles.)
  • FLIR/SLIR: Forward and Side Looking Infrared. Allows pilot and weapons officer to get visuals on targets at night.
  • CS/A-013(a) Communications Satellite: The SACPAK is be fitted out with 4 of these satellites for extended communications and radar range.
