Stabbing Westward 1985-2002 "A candle burns here
in your honor |

I've come to a conclusion after listening to all my old SW bootlegs and watching my mailing list videos again: Mark was the motherfuckin' man. He brought such an amazing intensity to the live show. That was something that Derrek came up short on big time. Mark wailed on that guitar and put his heart into the show. I think a lot of us, including myself, overlooked the role Mark played while he was in Stabbing Westward. When the announcement that Mark left SW circulated on the mailing list, it came and went without much commotion. We thought Stabbing Westward would move on, and be the same band that we loved. It didn't turn out that way, and I think Mark's departure had a huge part in it. Mark brought attitude and edge to the band, and when he left, so did the edge that the band once possessed. It's too bad it got ugly between him and Chris, especially since Chris spoke so highly of him at one point. At least Andy and Mark are still on good terms with each other. I am stoked about them collaborating on the soundtrack for "So I Downloaded a Demon". Should be good.
