Kami was the very temperamental but friendly drummer of Malice Mizer. He was kind, chipper(if you will) and loyal to his friends. He often though wore a very sad countenance. Kami was easily moved to tears, crying backstage after the final live performances of both Tetsu and Gackt (both former vocalist before Klaha).
During Junior High, he enjoyed the music of British bands such as Culture Club and Duran Duran. He relly got into play percussion when he joined his high school band, practicing 4-5 hours weekdays and all day Sunday. After high school Kami joined a punk band. He enjoyed the music of The Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks and The Damned. He left the genre however wanting to play the drums with more technique than one would use while playing in a punk band.
Kami then discovered Visual-Kei -A style of rock in Japan that put an emphasis on visual aspects as well as the music.Following this discovery He joined a band called Knueklid Romance. During this time he notice Malice Mizer a lot in live houses. Yu~ki once asked Kami if he wanted to join, but he respectfully declined. However, Soon after Mana approached him with the offer of a temporary drummer before he soon after became full-time drummer.
Kami was very interested in Japanese military history and often tired to apply lessons he learned from war Captains to his everyday life. For example, He compared Shingen Takeda's attempt to take over Japan to Malice Mizer's attempt to take over indies rock.
On June 21, 1999, Kami died in his sleep of a brain hemorrhage and was found four days later. A private funeral was held. Gackt, who was greately affected by Kami's passing, to my knowledge, made the songs U+K in dedication to Kami. Out of respect for him no other drummer that came before the disbanding of Malice Mizer was ever considered a 'real member' of the band.
