CHAPTER 107

3 weeks later, Sunday morning

The last days of my pregnancy are slowly going by. Patty visited me a couple of times and took me to the swimming pool. It's really great no to feel the heavy weight of my belly for a while! Since a week Dunk's home. He's really supportive, he only goes to work once and a while when I'm taking a nap in the afternoon. I fill my days relaxing and sleeping while Dunk's cleaning the house and making nice drinks and food for me. The doctor said that I had to rest more and eat more. The babies are growing well, but it seems like I'm not eating enough because I don't gain enough weight anymore. So Dunk makes sure I don't do anything but going to the loo. Sometimes I'm really fed up with it, but then Dunk comes and sits with me. He can always make me smile somehow!
Today seems different though
Patty and Lee are visiting us, but I hardly hear a word of what they are saying. I'm restless, and I wish I could just stand up and walk around, but nowadays it takes a lot of effort to just stand up.
Dunk goes to the kitchen to get new drinks and some snacks. Patty nudges Lee that he should follow him, so Patty and I stay behind together.
"You're feeling different today, isn't it?" she asks me as soon as the door's closed behind Lee and Dunk.
"How do you know?" I say surprised.
"Woman's intuition," she smiles.
"You're right. I wish I could jump around and scream," I sigh.
"Well you can scream, but I think that will make the guys come running back," she grins.
"Yeah I think so too. But can you jump around for me?" I grin back.
"Sure babe, whatever you want," she starts to laugh. "Did you mean something like this?" she asks jumping around like a kangaroo.
"Excellent! I feel a lot better already!" I burst out laughing.
"Can I stop now?" she pants, still jumping around.
"Sure!" I laugh, holding my shaking belly.
"So, did you clean the baby room yet?" she asks when she sits down.
"Dunk didn't let me, so I made him do it yesterday afternoon," I nod.
"Than I bet the babies are coming today!" she says.
"What? Why do you think that?" I ask surprised.
"You felt it, that's why you wanted everything to be ready and cleaned. You just didn't realize it," she smiles.
"If you say so," I shrug. I don't believe it anyway!
With a determined look on her face she says: "The babies are coming today!"
