| CHAPTER 103
Two weeks later Finally it's Friday afternoon! Another busy week's over, and I can go back to Duncan in London. I miss him so much, although we're calling for hours every day. He seems to miss me too, even called me at lunchtime a couple of times! A big smile seems to be stuck on my face. I get my coat and wish everybody a good weekend. I go outside and blink at the sunlight. Than someone draws my attention. He's leaning casually to the wall, a single flower in his hand. I blink again and take a few steps forward. He has a broad smile and opens his arms wide to catch me when I run to him. "Dunk!" I whisper, hugging him tight. I look up at his sparkling blue eyes. "What? How?" He says nothing, but keeps on smiling. "Never mind, I don't even wanna know. I'm so happy you're here!" I say and he pulls me into a passionate kiss. When he draws back he gives me a red rose. "I love you," he says with a husky voice. My heart seems to swell to twice its normal size. "I love you too!" He gives me a kiss and puts his arm around my shoulder, leading me home. "We're not going to the airport?" I ask surprised. "No, we're taking a flight late this evening," he shakes his head. I wonder why! "Have you been working today?" I ask him. "No, I took the whole day off. I visited your parents." "Oh really?" I look up at him curious. He nods and starts to laugh. "If you wanna know why, just ask me." "Why?" I grin. "Had to discuss how we're gonna move your stuff to London, since this is the last weekend you're allowed to fly. But we arranged everything," he smiles and kisses me. "How are we gonna do it?" I sigh. "I will come here every weekend and help you pack. And the weekend that you're moving in with me, I'll come and take you to London by train. Your parents will take all your stuff from here and get them on board, and Lee, Sy and Ant will help to get everything to our house. And mum will be in London to take care of you and make sure that you don't do anything while I go back and help the others. So you don't have to worry about anything but this," he puts his hand on my steadily growing belly. Meanwhile we've arrived home so he takes out his key and opens the door for me. My mouth falls open when I see the kitchen. It's all cleaned up (very rare for a students house) and there are candles everywhere. I can smell dinner has been cooked already and on the table are plates and glasses for two. And in between is a small vase. "Did you?" I turn around at Dunk. He looks at me expectantly. "Do you like it?" "It's so romantic! What did I do to deserve all this?" He gives me a kiss on my nose, takes the rose from my hand and puts it in the vase. We both sit down and he takes my hand. "All this, is because you're my girlfriend. Because you love me for who I am. And because I can't always be with you. At times when I have to leave you, I want you to have moments like this to remember, maybe than I'll feel less guilty for leaving you." "Awww Mister James! Never feel guilty for that, because I don't blame you!" I say touched and bend over the table to kiss him. After the four delicious courses Dunk has cooked, which have disappeared incredibly fast for a romantic dinner, Dunk takes something from his pocket. He looks kind of nervous. I suppress the urge to say something and watch his every move. He kneels down in front of me and takes my hand with a shaking hand. "At first I thought of taking you to some romantic restaurant, but than I decided that this was a moment of just the two of us. Than I thought of taking you away to some beautiful place, but than I decided that your own home is the only right place to ask you this question." I look down at his tense face, holding my breath. "Can I be your husband?" "Yes!" I say with tears in my voice. His face is beaming when he puts a ring on my finger. "Oh Dunk, it's beautiful!" I whisper. It's gold, and in three white-gold squares is written, also in white-gold, D + I. "There's something engraved at the inside," he says quietly. I take the ring off to read it. "I love thee," we both read out loud. I wrap my arms around his neck and give him a tight hug. Tears of joy are streaming down our faces when we kiss. "You were nervous," I smile when we let go off eachother a long time later. "Of course I was," he smiles back. "Was there really a moment that you thought I didn't want to marry you?" I ask softly. "You could have thought it was too soon," he says, wrapping his arms around me. "Too soon? Everybody else would say too late," I laugh, putting his hands on my bump. "You know what I mean," he smiles. "With all my heart I knew that I would marry you one day, so why wait?" I kiss his hand. "Shall we go and tell your parents?" he whispers in my ear. I look up surprised. "You wanna tell them first?" I ask happy. "They might be kind of expecting us," he smiles. "They knew you were gonna ask me?" I call out amazed. "Of course. I had to ask your dad permission first," he nods. "Aww that's so sweet!" I say and get all emotional again. "Now don't start crying again," he gives me a cute smile. "I'm not," I laugh and wipe away the tears. After a short, emotional, but very happy visit to my parents we rush to the airport to catch our flight. Just before we get on board Dunk calls mum to tell her to stay awake, because we're gonna pay her a visit too. Fiona is really happy for both of us too, and again we shed some tears. After that Dunk quickly takes me home and we go to bed, emotionally drained. With Dunk's strong arms around me I fall asleep. |
