| REAL DEMO RECORDINGS CASSETTE TAPE | ||||||||||||||
| A VERY interesting Feeder item here. When Feeder were called "Real", they recorded this demo tape and got signed a few days later or so!. They recorded a few tracks for their demos before they got signed, but three of them appear on this promotional tape. I entirely believe this tape was released by Echo to promote the band to the insiders of the industry to get the band some gigs, radio play on stations etc. Back then the band were still called "Real" and still were after signing to Echo, but changed their name to Feeder before playing live for the first time in March 1995. The tracks on the tape are "Give", which is an earlier version of "Suffocate" with the same lyrics put in different places, and a few lines being subsituted on the final version. The other track is "Believe"- a demo only track that has a neat bassline and nice bridges, and finally "Spill"- the same song from "Suffocate" CD2, but with totally different lyrics in the verses and a guitar riff to open the song. According to a rep at Echo, "Believe" was an old track and got scrapped as the band felt it was "crap", but I for one think of it as one of the best songs I first heard in 2006! :D. I won this tape from ebay, the seller worked for Echo as a freelance art editor and designed a few logos for the band, and met them when they were called "Real" just after they signed, and ended up with this tape, and listened to it with them!. She told me Grant was all ethusiastic about the future with tons of plans, and they were very interested in breaking Japan!. She's seen them live a few times too, and Feeder are getting bigger over there!. This is the only time I've seen the tape for sale, and maybe the only time too!!!!. |
