the next thing we will take you through Cadet is Formatting, plots/sub-plots and PC's/NPC's
the way we format here at Federation frontier is simple and easy to learn.
Actions are shown in normal text
Thought is shown in italics
Shouting is shown in Bold
Out of Context (OOC) text is shown like this ==OOC text here==
and the computer talking is shown like this: [computer speech]
When moving from area to area it must be done like this:
For example, this character is posting in the quarters thread aboard his ship.
Harok gathered up his meagre belongings and headed for the door. The doors swished open and Harok entered a turbo lift.
"Bridge"
The Turbo lift whirred and headed upwards.
==Next post bridge==
This character must then make his next post on the bridge. note the ==Next post: bridge== at the bottom of the example post tells you were the next post of this character will be, notice also it is in the double equals (==) of OOC.
When speaking through a combadge it should be done like this:
Harok tapped his combadge
"J'tan, I will meet you in 10 forward in 5 minutes"
The com message:"J'tan, I will meet you in 10 forward in 5 minutes" must then be posted wherever J'tan is. For example J'tan is in his quarters. Harok would post the following in the quarters thread: [J'tan, I will meet you in 10 forward in 5 minutes]. Note the [] instead of speech marks, this shows that it is a com-badge message.
Next are Plots and Sub-Plots.
A plot is the story line for each ship. Often there will be a main story line-like a war with the Borg, and each ship will have its own Plot. i.e. The federation is at war with the Borg. The Plot for the characters on the USS Thor is they are going to engage and destroy a Borg outpost. The plot for the USS Achilles Is that they will be seeking allies among other races. See how different ships CAN have different plots, but sometimes 2 or 3 ships may be running on the same plot.
Sub-Plots are what you really need to worry about. Sub-Plots are plots within a plot. The Plot maybe that the USS Thor shall engage the Borg, but 1 sub-plot currently running aboard maybe a character has fallen in love with another and they are on a date in 10 forward. Sub-Plots must be cleared via email with the ships CO and as long as they don't interfere too much with the main plot they will usually be approved sub-plots earn you medals if they are good.
Next are PC's and NPC's
PC's are a player's main character, the one they will go through the academy with, the one you wrote a BIO about. PC's are a player regular character and role Aboard a starship, they earn points and will appear on the monthly point charts. NPC's are characters taken on by players that do not earn points. NPC's do not need to go through the academy as you, as a player, will be playing them and you already now the formatting. NPC's may be used for a subplot or you may just feel you want to take on another character. You may have an unlimited amount of NPC's. I you would like to have an NPC on your ship you need to ask your CO Via email. If you would like an NPC on another ship you need to ask your CO and the CO of the other ship Via email.
PC stands for Player Character
NPC stands for non-Player Character.
When using NPC's with your PC account put this at the top of your post ==NPC-NPC name and rank here==. If NPC's will be used often then you may register them as a new account. Please note you may only play one PC.
