Unexpected Christmas Surprise

Unexpected Christmas Surprise
T'was the day before Christmas, and a typical day it was at EnmaCho
(What I mean is.
(Tsuzuki gets hit and screamed at by his younger partner.
(Hisoka becomes yet again a victim of Watari's potions, is suffocated by
his overgrown kid of a partner's hugs, and his perpetual scowl syndrome
strikes again
(Tatsumi screams at the accountants. again *too much debt*
(Watari gets death threats from Tatsumi for causing the lab to explode
into smithereens, and gets a hit from Hisoka for making him a guinea pig.
(and Konoe. well, you know what the old man is like. *sigh* ^_^!
See what I mean? And that's just one of those USUAL days at the Shokan
bureau.)
Anyway, as I was saying, at the end of today's work, everyone is
excitedly babbling about the upcoming Christmas Eve party. All except for
Hisoka, that is. He was deeply immersed in reading the last few pages of
his book when an overly familiar voice calls out his name.
Tsuzuki: "Hiso~~ka~~~!!! Hey, what are you going to wear tonight? I want to
know so
that our clothes will match!"
Hisoka: "What for? Besides, who told you I'm going?" *with his usual glare*
Tsuzuki: "Hisoka! You ARE going!!! It's about time you tried to socialize!
Besides, I
think we'll be having a lot of fun. Also, everyone wants you
to come, they want
to see you relax once in a while. Hm. they're quite excited
to see you wear
something formal for a change. Personally, I think you'll
look really cute. or
should I say, handsome, tonight." *evil grin*
Hisoka: "Whatever. You go yourself! I'm not going!"
Hisoka is still reading his book, when he was suddenly interrupted.
-- SNATCH!!! --
Hisoka: "Hey!!! Give that back!!!"
Tsuzuki: "Yada! Not until you agree to come to the party with me tonight!"
Hisoka: "Tsuzuki. Book. Here. NOW! Or else." *deathglare*
Tsuzuki: "Uh-uh!!! Yada! Yada! Yada! Come with me! Party tonight!
Pleeeease!!!
Pwetty, pwetty, PWEEEEEEASE!!!!!" *puppy-dog-eyes*
Hisoka: "No!"
Tsuzuki: "Come!"
Hisoka: "No!"
Tsuzuki: "Please???"
Hisoka: "NO!"
Tsuzuki: "Alright then! NO party, NO book."
Hisoka stands up to grab the book from Tsuzuki, but Tsuzuki stubbornly
steps back, and pulls the book away form Hisoka's grasp.
. Wrong move.
Hisoka loses balance and falls downwards. Fortunately enough, Tsuzuki
was able to catch him before he hit his head hard on the floor. The damage
would've been fatal.
Tsuzuki: "Damn! That was close. I'm sorry, Hisoka. I'm really, really
sorry."
Emotions of worry and guilt suddenly gushed forth from Tsuzuki,
directly affecting the empath, the latter held his head tightly.
Tsuzuki: "Oh NO! I'm so sorry, sorry again."
Hisoka: "Stop it Tsuzuki! It's not your fault!" *he snapped*
Hisoka starts to get up and looked straight into those concerned
amethyst eyes and muttered "I'm okay." Tsuzuki suddenly turned into a
little puppy and glomps Hisoka around his slender waist, jumping up and
about happily.
Tsuzuki: "Wai!!! Glad Hisoka-chan's okay."
Hisoka: "Hai hai." He pats the little puppy's head gently.
It's almost five in the afternoon. Tatsumi dismissed them early,
giving up on each and every employee's plea to give them enough time to
prepare for tonight's party. (Strict as he is, he consented after a VERY
long time of pleading from Watari, Tsuzuki, Wakaba and even Konoe.)
Hisoka: " Give me the book, Tsuzuki. I need to return it to the library
before I go home.
I'm not even finished with it yet."
Tsuzuki: "Party?" *he asked, still in puppy form with pleading eyes enough
to melt
anybody*
Hisoka: "I told you I_AM_NOT_GO_O_IIING!" *he said slowly, so that every
word
would sink in.
Tsuzuki: "Really? Okay then, I. I. I. eto. ano. I'll call you nee-chan from
now
on." *he can't think of any other reason to annoy Hisoka,
to make him come*
A hundred veins suddenly pop out from a certain jade-eyed boy's head.
Hisoka: "Oi. Tsuzuki."
#@# HIT!!! HIT!!! AND MORE HIT!!!!! #@#
A certain young boy about the age of sixteen steps out of the noisy
room and slams the door shut. Moments later, a battered puppy steps out of
the room with punch marks here and there, murmuring about animal abuse and
mean partners.
Hisoka entered the library and slumped down to one of the farthest
chairs. As he passed by the GuShoShin, they greeted him cheerfully, but he
merely nodded his head.
Elder GuShoShin: "He seems to be in a bad mood."
Younger GuShoshin: "Un. No doubt because of Tsuzuki-san again."
The two faced each other and heaved a deep sigh.
Hisoka returned the book after finishing the last few pages. Upon
handing one of the GuShoShin the book, he noticed something on the
GuShoShin's counter.
"Special Treats Made Easy" he read aloud.
Younger GuShoShin: "Oh, that one. Wakaba-san just handed it in a while
ago."
Hisoka: "Hmmm. May I borrow it?"
Younger GuShoShin: "Sure!"
Hisoka stepped out of the library with a thought still lingering in
his mind. 'Why did I even want to borrow this.? Maybe. because I wanted to
make something special for that idiot this Christmas. After all, much as I
hate to admit it, he has done a lot of things for me. He gave me the one
thing I never had all my life. a. family. Tch! After what he just did a
while ago. who's the idiot now? How stupid of me. Mataku.'
Hisoka sat down under one of the sakura trees that surrounded their
office building. He read the one of the recipes that captured his interest.
After a few minutes, he managed to memorize it and what ingredients he
needed to make it.
"Yosh!" he said to himself, as he stood up and made his way. On his
walk back home, he dropped by a grocery store a couple of blocks away from
his house to buy the ingredients he needed to make his little surprise for
Tsuzuki.
When everything- the ingredients, utensils, and equipment he needed
were ready, he started his first attempt in baking a chocolate-and-caramel
cake. He started to open up the packs of ingredients that he bought. He
started mixing, beating, carefully following the recipe and measuring the
ingredients accurately. He moved back and forth in the kitchen, rushing
every now and then from one bowl to another, then to the oven and so on.
Hisoka: "Damn! I didn't think it would be this hard." *irritated*
He placed the batter on the oven, and started adding the ingredients
needed to make the frosting. He was mixing them on the mixing bowl when he
suddenly felt dazed and nearly fell backwards. *apparently out of lack of
sleep. again.*
[witer: "Ne, ne, Hii-chan! Won't you ever take good care of yourself?"]
[Hisoka: "Shut up! Concentrate on what you're doing!"]
[writer: "hidoi!" ~sniff~]
Luckily, his elbow was able to lean on the table and he didn't fall.
However, he seemed to have hit the flour that it fell and it created smoke
all over the kitchen.
-- achoo!-- -cough- -cough- --ah. ah. achoo!-- -cough- cough- -cough-
Hisoka: "This is definitely not my day."
After a few hours of painfully annoying mixing, baking, sneezing and
coughing, he finally managed to finish his very first cake. Wiping a few
more flour from his eyes, he took the newly baked cake out of the oven and
carefully sliced it in two across, horizontally. He spread a bit of the
chocolate frosting on top of the first layer and squeezed a bit of caramel
from the icing squeezer thingy, forming jagged lines across. He placed the
second layer on top of the first one and did the same. After that, he also
spread the frosting round the side of the cake. Then, he carefully placed
it inside the box.
Hisoka: "Finally. I think that about does it."
He stretched, he yawned and sat down on a chair near his table to rest
a little. It's been a long day.
Hisoka: "I swear, Tsuzuki! If you don't like this, I'll. kill. you."
He felt his eyelids become heavy and down, down, down. asleep.
Meanwhile.
Tsuzuki: "It's 9:45 already. Maybe I should give it another shot. Yosh!
I'll try to
persuade him to come. Trust me Hisoka, you'll love it."
He was wearing a tuxedo and a tie a lovely shade of green, that looked
as if it was slowly fading as it changed colors from green to white, going
downwards from the top of the tie where it was knotted. In his arms, he
carried a neatly wrapped box, which was unmistakably a Christmas present
for his dear partner.
He smiled, musing on how his partner might react if he came over to see
him. He took his coat and wore his thick scarf, and then went out the door
to go to his partner's place.
He knocked on the door of his partner's house and there was no reply
from the younger shinigami. He knocked again, and there was nothing. He
knocked for the third time, and since there was still no answer he went
inside. He was worried at first, but then thought instead that maybe he was
sleeping. He'll just put the present beside his bed so that he'll be
surprised when he wakes up. He was a bit disappointed though, knowing that
if he was already asleep, then he won't be able to come to the party
anymore. 'But then maybe he won't get mad if I try to wake him up. Just
this once. This is just once a year after all.'
He silently went to the direction of his partner's room, but upon
noticing something odd on the kitchen, he decided to take a look inside. He
was startled at first upon seeing the mess, until his eyes set on a
familiar slender figure. He saw his partner leaning on the table, sound
asleep. Beside him.
Tsuzuki: "A cake! .Looks delicious." * this guy is hopeless ^_^! *
Posted on the uncovered box of the tempting cake, he saw a note, and
he recognized his partner's neat handwriting. In it were written the words.
For Tsuzuki
A wide grin spread across Tsuzuki's face and his amethyst eyes
glimmered beautifully, but it wasn't enough to express the happiness and
gratitude he felt within. He bent down to gently kiss his partner's pale
and soft cheeks. And he whispered a deeply heartfelt "Arigatou. Hisoka."
He went into the bathroom and grabbed a small towel. He wet it and
wiped the remaining flour dust on Hisoka's face and arms. His violet eyes
gazed at his young partner as he wiped his pale face. 'Beautiful. he's
really so cute, especially when he's sleeping. These are but few of the
precious moments when he seems to be unbothered by bad dreams.'
After that, making sure he didn't wake him, he placed his arms gently
around his knees and back, and carried him in his strong arms. He was
really very light. Well, he did have a thin physique and he didn't eat
much, and that it gave him a girl's slim figure. Tsuzuki chuckled at his
thoughts, musing how his partner would hit him, and scowl at him, and
scream at him, and give him his trademark deathglare, if he ever read his
thoughts. He laid him with care on his bed and covered him with the
blanket. He sat on one side of the bed, still gazing at his young partner.
He caressed his hair and felt how soft it was. He liked it better this way.
caressing it affectionately than ruffling it.
He heard a soft groan from the boy as he sleepily opened his eyes.
Ahh, that angelic face was just not complete without it's beautiful jade-
colored eyes.
Hisoka: "Tsuzuki. what.?"
But before he could finish his question, Tsuzuki caressed his hair
again and spoke to him.
Tsuzuki: "I was planning on inviting you to come with me to the party
again. But when
I came here, I saw you in the kitchen... asleep."
Hisoka: "Oh. so I guess you saw it huh?"
Tsuzuki: "Un."
Hisoka: "I'm sorry. I probably messed it up. It's just. it's my first time
to do it and.
and. if you don't like it then."
But before he can continue, he felt Tsuzuki's finger pressed on his
soft lips.
Tsuzuki: "I haven't tasted it yet, but I know it's much, MUCH better than
those that I
have tasted before. I'm sure. Because it was made by my
precious partner." *wink*
Hisoka blushed and abruptly looked away so that Tsuzuki won't notice
him.
Too late. Tsuzuki would never miss his partner's beautiful face
blushing, which made it all the more adorable to look at, for anything.
Hisoka: "Baka! Quit looking at me like that!"
Tsuzuki: "But I like it!!! Hisoka-chan kawaii!!! *he said childishly*
Hisoka sat up and glanced at his alarm clock. It was just 11:30 pm
Hisoka: "We still have thirty minutes. would you wait for me outside while
I change?"
Tsuzuki: "Eh? What?" *confused*
Hisoka: "Are we going to that party or what?"
Tsuzuki has never been so happy his entire life. He wasn't expecting
that this year's would be the best Christmas he'll ever have. And so he
went to the party with his young partner (who caught everyone's attention
with his stunning looks.) They all wore Santa hats, and made a toast for
the welfare of their bureau and of each other. They had the time of their
lives at the party. The duo also made a toast to their partnership, and
both knew, and felt, that that this was a night neither would ever forget.
"HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!" =^w^=
