| OLD ENGLISH GAME BANTAMS |
| Old English Game Bantams originated in England many years ago. They were admitted to the Standard of Perfection in 1925. Old English Game Bantams are often among the largest classes in the showroom, and are extremely popular among enthusiasts. Type and color is the same as for the large Old English. They are hardy and vigorous, and come in many different colors. Cocks must be dubbed to be shown. Standard weights are: Cock 24 oz., Cockerel 22 oz., Hen 22 oz., Pullet 20 oz. The varieties we raise are Brown Red and Quail. They are both from exhibition lines, coming from one of the top exhibitors of these varieties in the PNW area. My daughter consistently wins with her Quail Old English, especially the pullets. They have been selected for their calm, gentle dispositions. Her "foundation" cock, Mulder, though long past his prime and his show days, has made a wonderful pet and companion for her. He has been in parades, done many demonstrations, been dressed up as Santa Chicken and had his picture posted on the evening news, and been a showmanship bird. Though coming to us as an older show bird and used for breeding purposes, he was so calm and gentle, he immediately became the favorite and a family pet. Most of his offspring have inherited his disposition. |
