Once upon a time there existed a Country laden with magnolias and honeysuckle vines. The people were most splendid with character of Southern Christian hospitality __Once upon a time  (Paul Burr)

The south. A people of pride, hard work, religion, family, respect.  In the south you will find a friendly people, never hesitate to say howdy to you, give you a smile, and a "welcome back yall". I had the great fortune of being born and raised in the south. I was taught respect and given morals to believe in. I was given a structure that would be the base I would build my adulthood on. I thank the southern culture for giving me something to believe in, teaching me manners and giving me the values that have formed the woman I am today.

From my southern view on the world, I see a world that has lost much of what we are. Our emotions have been desensitized, people don't seem to be as affected by death, destruction, or even by love. Everyday I hear someone say "who cares".

Some staggering stats on how much our world has changed in just  a generations time will amaze you. I have put together a page with some of the changes our society has evolved into since the decline of the family,  morals and religion. Take the time to glance at some of them and see if you can figure out what has changed so much to change humans so drastically over such a short time.

Children see death everyday on tv or video games, they can kill, maim, and ridicule mankind, in every way the creator of these shows and games can think to manifest. Can we wonder why our children have lost their innocent nature? Guns have been accessible for generations. Boys were given guns as gifts for decades, yet school shootings did not exist. What has changed? The gun? The boy?

Women proudly call themselves such self deprecating names as I wish not to utter.  Women fought for the right to stop men from calling them sweet names such as honey and babe, or worse like chick or broad. Now women call themselves names that even men find disrespectful. Are we at a  time when woman doesn't even respect woman.

Afro-Americans who fought so hard to be recognized and treated as humans, a people who were proud of their heritage, now calling themselves names that would make their ancestors ashamed.

Men today shirking their responsibilities to their families, leaving their blood behind to be raised by anyone or noone. Its a sad society we've created.

I would have to say that I am ashamed of the human race as it is today. People have screamed for equality for this, equality for that and we have lost ourselves. A woman is no longer a woman, man no longer man and worse, children are no longer children. In gaining equality people have no clue what they are anymore. There is no direction. We have sat back and let the government make the decisions for us on everything from telling us from were we came from, to how to raise our children. The family has been torn apart.

Long gone are the days of moms making homes, dads bringing home the bacon, sex being a private thing, and children playing red rover. Long gone is parent control over children, long gone marriage,  front porch swings, romance, and manners. We have been cheated!  Our natural roles have been lost, our morals and self respect  are just old fashioned tales, smirked at as outdated and not politically correct. Strange though that child crimes have increased, suicide rates are climbing, and drug companies make billions off anti-depressants these days.
