No one knows how Vendeta came to own such a creature and there are rumors that she created the Sabre herself. Some claim that the creature is a mutant of some other more common species, while a few say the Sabre is an other-worldly beast. Only a handful of sketches drawn by eye-witnesses exist, and these alone are not enough to verify the actual existance of the creature. A scientific investigation is being conducted by the scientists of Cainesian-Soltas Valu, but so far little progress has been made. The reasoning for this is due to the secrecy of The Bloody Maiden, she has placed her home under high-security surveillence since the media first swarmed to the manor.

The Hellgate Sabre is believed to be a dangerous feline-like creature, possibly a member of the same family that Smileodon belonged to. Reports claim that the creature residing at the Hellgate Manor is the only living one. Numerous survivors of claimed attacks by the Sabre have provided researchers with the first glimpse of the ellusive beast. Their testemonies, though sketchy, are the only recorded descriptions of what many refer to as The Maiden's Hound.
Until enough volunteers come forward, the actual process of investigating the Hellgate Sabre's existance, and ideas are needed as to how to capture it. So far none have dared to venture into the dark abyss that is Vendeta's home, and for good reason. Many have entered the infamous manor, though only a select few have ever made it out alive. Often those who do make it out end up dying from the severity of the injuries they recieved while inside. These injuries are presumeably caused by the Sabre, or as some believe, by Vendeta herself. And there are not many who doubt the ability of Vendeta in her being able to inflict such horrendous wounds.
