Reel Big Fish -  "Cheer Up!"
Fish's latest album lurches ever-more into chart-friendly rock with their latest album "Cheer Up".
Tracks like "Where Have You Been?" and "Good Thing" are both innofensive, good catchy tunes, but there is nothing here that makes it stand out like their last album; perhaps this a sign the band's songwriting pen is beginning to run out.
There is though a slighty bizarre cover of "New York, New York" and a Bon Jovi-esque tribute in the form of "Rock n' Roll is Bitchin" that grab your attention simply for the fact they stick-out like a sore thumb.
If anything, it almost sounds like they've been toned down to suit a different market, and thats a shame.  The album promises much, but doesn't deliver on the counts that it's just a tad bit bland.
"Cheer Up" is a worthy attempt at the mainstream market, but it just doesn't sound right.  The songs, although easily likeable lack that edge which their previous albums had.

Travis - "The Invisible Band"
Travis' 3rd and latest album had a lot to live up to following the success of "The Man Who".  in many ways, this album is a successful progression of their soft, ballard-like style and includes some real gems of songs.
The songs "Side", "Safe" and "Dear Diary" are the pick of the bunch; providing mellow, soothing melodies and some great lyrics.  Indeed, the whole album is virtually flawless in it's entirity.
The whole album is almost an entire song which flows effortlessly and really does showcase the band's talent.  The soft voice of lead vocalist Fran Healy complements the melodies perfectly too.
Some people say that the band's song are are touch macarbe and this was shown by their previous effort; this album serves more of the same, but it just feels right.
This compilation of songs is definatley worth the money.

Smash Mouth - "Astro Lounge"
You'll recognize this band if you saw the movie "Shrek"; Smash Mouth featured on the theme with thier chart-smash "All Star", and thier latest album serves up more of the same.
A good blend of pop-friendly rock and Ska influences, it bounces along providing some feel-good anthems from the start with the track "
Who's There" and in the form of "Come On Come On" and "I Can't get enough of you Baby".
One thing that stands this band out from the rest of the crowd is the distinctive, graveley voice of lead vocalist Steve Harwell; Although not exactly subtle, it fits well with the style of music and adds that extra oomph.
The album does have it's dogs though; "Home" and "Roadman" are an example of variation which don't work and aren't really suited to this album.
Having said that, the album on the whole is pretty good; with some nimble fast-fowarding you can appreciate a good solid pop-rock album.

Feeder - "Echo Park" (Japanese Import)
British trio Feeder recorded this variaition of Echo Park primarily for the Japanese market where they have a large following; it was also the last album produced before the tragic suicide of drummer Jon Henry-Lee.
This was the album which really thrust the band into the limelight with the anthem "Buck Rogers" and "Seven Days In The Sun".  This version also contains 5 bonus tracks, including the brilliant "Just A Day".
On the whole, this is a great rock / indie album; album tracks like "Tell All Your Friends" and "Under The Weather" fit in well with the more well-known tracks.
All of the songs are individual enough to warrant attention, some of them in my opinion would gain success on the single's market soley on thier own.
The album is the last of the original Feeder history; it'll be interesting to see how this album compares to their next album.  Get it while you can.
