| The Physics Circus by Fivos R Drymiotis | |||
| I attended a talk by Hawking at the centenial APS meeting in Atlanta . The room was full. Mostly aspiring teenagers with their parents
who came to watch the physics circus. The automaton entered the room and the show began. The teenagers were nodding their heads in agreement long after I had lost any ability to understand what was coming out of the voice-box. Utter confusion, desperation and my thoughts all of the sudden turned towards my friends who had skipped Hawking's barrage of black-hole absurdities and had gone to a strip-joint. I felt alone, confused and needing the attention of a compassionate stripper to save me from the torture of listening to the automaton..."buzz....buzzz.....bla..a..a.c..c..k....h..o...l...e...s".-----the smell of cheap perfume and sweet sweat!! The torture was over after about an hour. Everybody stood up to clap for what they had not understood..."...buzzz......buzzzzz....b.uuu..y....m..y..bo..o..k..buzzz". A brief history of time had become the longest torture and time was my enemy....Relativity...Somebody please unplug the voicebox!! |
