The last few days

It would drag its body

Under the electric fence and

Grab on to the high voltage wires.

The current flowing through its body

Shocked its nervous system

and forced its hind legs into a

wild spastic dance.

Lying next to the trap,

That had broken his back,

The mouse indifferent and stoic,

its body an electrical river

was finding enlightenment

at the boundary with oblivion.
