| Ricky was born Enrique Jose Martin Morales IV on Christmas Eve in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was the third child of Nereida Morales and the first child of Enrique Martin Negroni III and the only child that they had together. Ricky's parents divorced when he was two years old and they shared custody. Ricky's paternal grandmother, Iraida Negroni, helped to raise him and he remained very close to her until her death from cancer in 1998. Ricky started in television commercials when he was six years old and eventually ended up trying out for the famous boy-band, Menudo, three times before he was accepted by them as a part of the group when he was twelve. He stayed with Menudo until he aged-out and then went back to Puerto Rico to complete his high school education. |
