| SULLIVAN'S MUMBLIN'S NUMBER THREE Things are getting worse in the world. Money and religion will be the end of everything soon enough, i suppose. At least there is rock and roll. J.Lo needs to go away for a while. There is too much shamelessness and confession on television. The more people who know about something does not mean it is something worth knowing. Dictators and the royal inheritance gonna send Johnny off to war for the good of s.u.v's everywhere. it doesn't matter (we won't be here too long). Is it the media or the youth? like the frontline documentary guy said, it is a feedback loop. This is capitalism unhinged, not democracy. The cows eat grass, cows expunge on grass, farmer feeds grass back to cow. hey kids, wanna be something? hope your pretty enough (you're not). its the mook or the mid riff or the beergut requiem. you gotta sell yourself or you don't get sold. you don't get sold, you don't sell, you're not here. happy hunting (the animals in cages). p.s. Weird about the previous mumblins's mention of Michael Jackson on balconies (he's gone too far off the map) non? | SULLIVAN'S MUMBLIN'S TWO G8 secret invitation party soon (no crashers), got the best security team since Michael Jackson went out on the balcony. This is what the canadian army does i suppose, keep the "important" people locked in the middle of the mountains. just like the OSTERMAN WEEKEND. in case you were wondering, Calgary is full of cowboys and oilmen. it is the canadian texas without the juvenile mercy seat. recording on four track, only needing two. now if i could only figure out what to do with it. new songs better i think, vocals for sure an improvement. its so hard to have opinions when everything is so absurd. | SULLIVAN'S MUMBLINGS NUMBER ONE The other day i was walking around downtown by myself. It was late afternoon, everything was in that approaching-evening blue wash, like the day's color was sucked out. On my way to a local record emporium, i approached a crosswalk. In an attempt to pick up speed and get across before the traffic, i somehow managed to trip up and fall face first. The world looked like it was flying away as I fell. Forturnately, i didn't hit my head. A few days later, all that remains is the occassional pain in my leg and arm. I was playing guitar the next morning, so injuries are probably not there. It was kind of funny, it took me a few seconds to get up, and i glanced at the passing citizens hurry by without even noticing me. This isn't really a criticism-- i didn't need any help or want any and such an offer would most likely have invited more attention to my already embarrassed state-- just an acknowledgement. Now i don't feel so bad when i ignore other people on the street and their problems. Oh, the calming effect of ignorance and conformity. Anyways, I bought some Dylan and Gladys Knight and the Pips, so that eased the pain. Right now, it's exams. Finished the songs, basic acoustic style, for the tentatively titled SONGS FROM WENTWORTH DRIVE. It's a fifteen song thing, supposed to be a different song for a different house on the street kind of thing. Well into rewriting the popera songs from the aborted thing i did with Bruno M. a few years back. Either i'm running out of ideas or i am starting to "improve" things. We'll see when it's done. No definite plans for recording anything in the near future. So buy LIFE BETWEEN NOWHERES. Since this is the first one of these "mumblin's", i should probably say what i'm going to write here. Essentially, it is entirely up to me. However, i'm going to try and stay as far away from the incessant bloodletting that floods the internet and People magazine, Entertainment Tonight, etc...What makes me worth listening to? I don't know, it's your time spent reading. Anyways, hope they are sufferable. Been reading: David Mamet, Sam Shepard, Franny And Zooey by J.D. Salinger, Journey to the End of The Night by Louis-Ferdinand Celine. Been Listening to: Bachelor No. 2 by Aimee Mann, Blood On the Tracks by Bob Dylan, early Van Morrison (Astral Weeks, Moondance, T.B. Sheets), Anthology by Gladys Knight and the Pips, Icky Mettle by Archers of Loaf, Voodoo by D'Angelo. Sullivan Fall Dec. 12 2000 |
