Anime: Fushigi Yugi
Worn at: Otakon 2001(sat and cosplay) and Katsucon 8 (sun)
Cost: about $30
Items in costume: chinese type top, hot pink pants, slip on dark blue shoes, green ribbon (border) , pink ribbon (hair tie), yellow sash, purple hair spray and eyeliner (for the beauty mark ^.^)
Made by: My mom and I (my mom did all the basic sewing, measuring, cutting. I did all the hand sewing and paid for it ^^)
I was very excited upon the completion of this costume because I would attending my first anime convention ever. I had been watching Fushigi Yugi and by then I had seen the entire series so I chose to make a costume of my favorite character, Nuriko.
It took a while to find a pattern that would work for Nuriko's outfit and then we had to look for the right colors of fabric, which took a long time! My mom edited it so that the top could be the two colors and I took thin green ribbon and spent a few hours sewing on the entire trim ^^ (I always have to be a perfectionist ^^..)
I think the costume looked very good once it was done and I went to Otakon with my friends dressed as Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura and Houki from Fushigi Yugi (Hotohori's wife). Unfortunatly for Houki (or Houki Pokey) nobody knew who she was at Otakon or Katsucon ^^ Maybe next time?
