The picture above is of Charles Darwin, the most well known advocate of the evolution theory. He lived from 1809 until 1882, mainly in England. From 1831 until 1836 he served as the naturalist on the ship, the Beagle, as it sailed on and around South America, and the surrounding waters gathering specimens of plants, fossils, shells, and animals to learn more about the natural world. In 1837, Darwin started his first notebook on evolution. He continued for several years to fill his notebook with facts and information that could be used to back up the theory of evolution. This theory was highly controversial when it was first publicized as it went against common belief that humans were created by God, and it was considered a heathen and sinful belief.
