Introduction:
The below will of Richard S. Cummins was written on 24 Feb 1838 and registered with the
probate clerk of Shelby County IN on 3 March 1838. Considering these dates he must have
known he was dying when he wrote it. In addition he names his friends John Walker and
Royal Mayhew as his executors. This may well be the source of the middle name Walker
that shows up in the next 2 generations of the family. Richard's brother,
F. P. Cummins maried Francis A. Cummins on 2 July 1839, and we think she might have
had the maiden name Walker.
