FC UNITED have bounced off the ropes after losing three of their stars by signing "Rocky".
The Rebels have snapped up 24-year-old former Oldham and Carlisle winger Carlos Roca after his release by Altrincham, with manager Karl Marginson convinced that he will be a big hit with the FC fans.
Marginson said: Ive been after Carlos for a year, and I think our fans will love him. he is fast, tricky and creative. What I loved when I spoke to him is that he wants to enjoy his football, so he is singing from the same hymn sheet as the rest of this club."
After losing top strikers Rory Patterson and Stuart Rudd to UniBond premier rivals Bradford Park Avenue, and also seeing wide man Josh Howard join New Mills,  the signing is a huge boost to FC morale.
And with skipper Dave Chadwick and midfielder Chris Baguley turning down more lucrative offers to remain at the club along with fans favourite Jerome Wright, Marginson feels his squad could be stronger and more competitive than ever next season.
Roca, who was once described by then Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy as a complete bag of tricks after starring against his side in an FA Cup tie at the Stadium of Light  in 2006, has also turned out for Stalybridge and Droylsden.
Roca was a big favourite with Vics fans, who dubbed him Rocky.
The Withington lad began his career at Oldham, where he made 11 appearances, and moved on to Carlisle, for whom he played 15 times before moving into non-league football.

REDS LOSE PATTERSON RUDD AND JOSH HOWARD!!
STAR striker Rory Patterson has dealt FC United a blow by leaving the club for UniBond League premier division rivals Bradford Park Avenue.
And with the Rebels also releasing hit-man Stuart Rudd, the club has now lost the two men whose goals - 154 in a total of 211 appearances - have fuelled three successive promotions.
Rory attracted attention from League outfits and several of the wealthier non-league clubs by topping the scoring charts in the UniBond first division with 41 goals in 49 outings.
And Park Avenue, backed by the riches of property developer Bob Blackburn, made 24-year-old Ulsterman Patterson an offer he could not refuse.
"It's very disappointing," said FC manager Karl Marginson, who had been hopeful of resisting the barrage of offers being made to the former Rochdale player. "But I understand the lad's decision, because he has a young family, and the money Bradford are talking is on another planet to what we can offer.
"There are professional footballers out there who don't get what Rory will be on."
Marginson has also released 32-year-old Rudd, who missed most of last season with a succession of injuries, and is now in the market for two strikers.
"With the injuries Stuart had, and with us stepping up another level, we just felt that the time was right to part company," said Karl.
"Other than that, with the financial situation, I had to raise a little bit of money, and hopefully we will be able to get someone else in."
The Rebels are hopeful of securing a deal for winger Jerome Wright, also being pursued by Park Avenue.
FC have also lost Josh Howard who has signed for joined up with former FCer Matty Taylor at New Mills.

FC MAKE IT THREE OUT OF THREE!!!
FC UNITED 4 - 1 SKELMERSDALE
FC United manager Karl Marginson has set his sights on what would be an amazing four successive promotion.
The Rebels safely confirmed their passage to the Unibond Premier Division with a pulsating victory over Skelmersdale in the Division One North play-off final at Gigg Lane on Saturday.
And with it came their third promotion in three years of existence. Two penalties from Nicky Platt and Rory Chadwick were complimented with strikes from captain marvel Dave Chadwick and sub Chris Baguley.
The visitors had gone ahead in front of a bumper crowd of 3,258 thanks to Sean McConville's stunning tenth minute free-kick.
But Skem finished the game with nine men after referee Billy Khatib dismissed skipper Michael White and Kevin Leadbetter.
Marginson said: "We've had three fantastic seasons - this promotion is the best of the lot.
"Four promotions has got to be the aim. We will be setting our stall out to go as far as we can. We will start off with the first game, try and win that, and then see where it takes us.
"I know they are all clichs, but there is nothing more true. You have got to take each game as it comes. We have got to judge each game on its own merit, and try and win football matches. That has been our philosophy in three years - it's not been a bad one."
After going behind early on, the Reds drew level six minutes before the break when White saw red for handling Jerome Wright's goalbound header. Platt clinically converted from the spot.
Defender Chadwick, who had been a doubt with a hamstring strain, gave the hosts the lead when he nodded home a long free-kick on 51 minutes.
Any hopes of a Skem recovery were completely banished just after the hour. Michael Duffy was harshly penalised for deliberately handling in the box.
Platt smashed the ball against the bar, only to see it balloon to the edge of the box where another penalty was awarded for minimal contact in a scramble.
Star striker Rory Patterson converted but only after the ball had spun into the net off the hand of keeper Rory McMahon.
Skem sub Leadbetter was dismissed for referee abuse, while sub Chris Baguley added a fourth with a low 20-yard drive ten minutes from time.
