| FCS Greets Autumn with a Win
DAVIS, Calif., Sept. 24, 2006 (AP) -- Adam Bauer and J.B. Rudell both netted two goals Sunday to lead FC Sudwerk to a 5-2 victory over Short Grass. The red-and-black led 2-1 at the break and dominated ball possession in the second half. Meanwhile, Sudwerk's defense held strong against the Short Grass counterattacks. The game featured the return of outstanding goalkeeper Rosie Matli, who joined the lineup Sunday after a two-year absence from the club, and the debut of Roman Suvada, a talented Czech international on loan to Sudwerk for one year. Suvada scored the goal of match when he took the ball from his own half and dribbled through the entire Short Grass side, tapping the ball into the net after going around the onrushing keeper. Welcome aboard Roman! Sudwerk's second game of fall season is against rivals Davis Football Club. Kickoff is noon on Sunday at Arroyo Park. ## |
