Tough Loss for FCS

DAVIS, Calif., Aug. 6 (AP) -- FC Sudwerk battled hard but came up short Wednesday, losing 5-3 to Arsenal.

The red-and-black were tied 2-2 with Arsenal at the break, thanks to two spectacular goals by Phil Pareas, but couldn't keep pace in the second half.

J.B. Rudell, on loan from Liverpool, scored Sudwerk's third goal to bring the club within one, down 4-3. But, it was not to be.

Arsenal equalized in the next minute on a beautiful streaking run and shot from its right winger to ensure the victory.

Sudwerk's next game is 7 p.m. Thursday against Stone/Monkeys.  ##
