| Dandurand Out for Year DAVIS, Calif., Aug. 20 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk suffered a devastating loss Wednesday night, when goalie Craig Dandurand went down with a torn left calf that will put him out of action for the remainder of the year. Dandurand's injury came in the opening minutes of a 6-0 defeat to DARSL's elite club, Grass Stains. Dandurand will be examined by doctors Thursday and receive an MRI to assess the damage, club officials said. "Nothing is worse than seeing a player like this go down with a serious injury," said Ramal Werdna, the president and CEO of FC Sudwerk. "We wish Craig all the best in his recovery and rehabilitation and look forward to seeing him on the field next year." Meanwhile, the red-and-black battled valiantly but could not keep up with the skillful, finely tuned passing attack of Grass Stains, considered the league's top team. Grass Stains dominated possession, giving Sudwerk few goal-scoring chances. Sudwerk's next game is 8 p.m. Sept. 3. ## |
