| Losing Streak Hits 3 DAVIS, Calif., Aug. 14 (AP) -- FC Sudwerk's losing streak stretched to three Thursday, when the red-and-black fell 5-1 to a much-improved Stone/Monkeys team. "I could have sworn that was the Brazilian under-17 squad out there against us," said Ramal Werdna, the embattled and slightly delusional CEO and president of FC Sudwerk. Sudwerk had its scoring chances but could not capitalize. For one, early in the second half defender Andrew LaMar was brought down in the box while counterattacking on offense and was awarded a penalty kick His penalty kick, though, hit the right post. Striker Balta Silva tallied the red-and-black's lone goal on a brilliant 40-yard strike in the first half that caught the keeper off the line. "We worked hard but never could find our rhythm with our passing game," Werdna said. Sudwerk's next game is 9:30 p.m. Wednesday against the much-dreaded Grass Stains. ## |
