Spectacular Goal Brings
Sudwerk 2-2 Tie with Arsenal

DAVIS, Calif., July 9, 2009 (Reuters) -- David Jagdeo delivered a splendid chip shot that caromed into the back of the net off the crossbar Thursday night to earn FC Sudwerk a 2-2 draw with rival Arsenal.

Jagdeo, who also scored Sudwerk's first goal, threaded the needle with a ball from 20 yards out left of goal that found its way in off the keeper's fingertips.

The rivalry lived up to its billing with back-and-forth action and both sides seeing a yellow card and suffering a key injury. The red-and-black's J.B. Rudell pulled a hamstring early in the second half and is expected to be out of the lineup for three to four weeks.

The hard-fought draw earned team members chocolate cupcakes baked by Culien -- wow, now that's a captain! -- who brought them to honor Erica's and Kip's birthdays. Happy birthday guys. (I'm pretty sure a drink or two was part of the celebration!)

Next game is 7 p.m. Tuesday against Galacticos. ##
