| LaMar Out For Year; Agocs A Month DAVIS, Calif., June 22 (AP) -- FC Sudwerk defender and captain Andrew LaMar will undergo surgery on his right knee and will be out of action for the remainder of the year, club officials announced on Monday. Meanwhile, star midfielder Andreas Agocs, who is suffering from achilles tendonitis in both feet, has been placed on the injured reserve list. Agocs, one of the club's talented playmakers, is receiving physical therapy and is expected to return to the lineup for fall season. "I know these setbacks are discouraging for both players," said Ramal Werdna, FC Sudwerk's president and CEO. "We'll do everything we can to speed their return." LaMar anchored the red-and-black's defense as sweeper last fall and winter but has been unable to recover from knee trouble encountered in January. He last played for the team on Feb. 19, when he aggravated the injury. At the time, doctors diagnosed LaMar with a strained right knee. Subsequently, however, an MRI revealed a tear in his meniscus, the C-shaped pad at the center of the knee, and a stretched anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Depending on the extent of the damage, which surgeons won't know until conducting the operation, rehabilitation could take anywhere from six weeks to six months. The surgery is scheduled for November. ## |
