| Big FCS Victory Brings Winning Season DAVIS, Calif., June 25 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk crushed Oldenfowl 9-1 on Sunday and racked up its first winning season in three years. The red-and-black dominated the undermanned Blues, which were forced due to lack of personnel to play one short the entire game. Sudwerk led 2-0 at the break and dictated play in the second half as Oldenfowl tired. The victory gave Sudwerk a 4-3 record for spring, the first winning season in DARSL outdoor for the club since spring 2003, when it went 5-3. Sudwerk has won regularly in DARSL's winter indoor league but has struggled to achieve the same success in outdoor. "This has been a great season for Sudwerk," said Juan Carlos, the club president and CEO. "The team worked hard, and it showed. The offense has never looked better." The red-and-black set a new club record for scoring, netting 38 goals in just seven games, an average of 5.4 goals per game. Imer Cruz led the way with 10 goals, followed by J.B. Rudell with nine and Adam Bauer with seven. In the match against Oldenfowl, Imer tallied four goals. The other five were scored by Rudell, James Engel, Mel Meyer, Donn Cox and Phil Pareas. ## |
