| Injuries Take Toll DAVIS, Calif., June 23 (AP) Reeling from a string of injuries, FC Sudwerk was overpowered 5-0 by Oldenfowl in its summer season opener Wednesday. The red-and-black remained close early in the match, managing to stay within one goal in the first half. But playing without its top two defenders, Adam Bauer and Donn Cox, and midfield playmaker Andreas Agocs proved too much. Odenfowl broke down Sudwerk's defense in the second half to score four unanswered goals. Bauer and Cox are expected to rejoin the team for Tuesday's game, but Agocs is out for the season with achilles tendonitis. He joins captain Andrew LaMar, out with an MCL tear, and Craig Dandurand, recovering from a strained calf, on the injured reserve list. Sudwerk continues with summer season with a 6:15 p.m. Tuesday match against Stone Monkeys. ## |
