| Sudwerk Romps to 9-1 Victory DAVIS, Calif., June 22 (AP) -- FC Sudwerk pushed its winning streak to four on Sunday by pounding the net for seven first-half goals on the way to a 9-1 thrashing of The Green Door. The win improves the red-and-black's record to 5-0-2 and guarantees the club will finish spring with its best record ever. The Green Door, which beat Sudwerk 6-0 on April 6, gave up an own goal when a defender and the keeper miscommunicated and a back pass went into the net. Green Door equalized a short time later on a penatly kick, after Sudwerk defender Andrew Morin was whistled for a hand ball in the penalty area. After that, though, it was all Sudwerk. David Rubio recorded three assists and one goal and Phil Pareas and Donn Cox each scored twice. Other goal scorers were Leon Shahinian, Joseph L'Amour and Andrew LaMar, who headed in a corner kick. The red-and-black will finish the spring season with a 2 p.m. match against Oldenfowl next Sunday. ## |
