LaMar Out For 6 Months

DAVIS, Calif., June 11 (Reuters)   FC Sudwerk skipper Andrew LaMar will be sidelined for the remainder of the year after tearing a ligament, club officials announced late Friday.

LaMar, a veteran defensive midfielder known for his physical defensive play and long-range passing, strained the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee two months ago and aggravated the injury on Sunday.

The knee will not require surgery but rather extended rest to heal followed by rigorous rehab, the club said.

"Andrew has a strong work ethic and a passion for the game few can match," said Ramal Werdna, president and CEO of FC Sudwerk. "So we fully expect him to bounce back from this latest setback and return to the lineup by winter season."

LaMar, 39, has endured an injury-plagued, three-year career with the red-and-black. A right knee injury that forced him to undergo arthroscopic surgery put him out of the lineup for 10 months in 2002. ##
