FCS Just Shy for 2nd Week

DAVIS, Calif., May 9 (Reuters)   FC Sudwerk dropped another nail-biter Sunday, falling 3-2 to Eagles in a back-and-forth match the red-and-black came inches from tying.

Midfielder Andreas Agocs hit the upper left post late in the game, as Sudwerk attacked relentlessly in the final 15 minutes. But good goalkeeping and lack of finishing denied Sudwerk.

Eagles, which appeared disorganized at times but counterattacked quickly and effectively, notched the game-winner in the 76th minute on a brilliant shot from 20 yards that rocketed into the top of the net.

Even though Eagles scored first in the 29th minute, the red-and-black remained composed and controlled much of the play with excellent work from its defenders and midfielders, who orchestrated impressive build-ups, throughout the match.

Striker Joseph L'Amour equalized in the 40th minute and an own goal gave Sudwerk a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute, but Eagles answered back one minute later.

Sudwerk continues its spring season with a match against Arsenal at noon on Sunday. ##
