Sudwerk Routed

DAVIS, Calif., May 23 (Reuters)   FC Sudwerk suffered its first thrashing of the year Sunday, losing 7-0 to Humboldt Grown, which capitalized on a one-man advantage to score five first-half goals.

The red-and-black, missing several key players and short on women, battled valiantly, however. Sudwerk controlled the play for long stretches late in the first half and early in the second, but could not find the back of the net despite hitting the woodwork three times.

"This was not the blowout the score line would have you believe," said Ramal Werdna, president and CEO of FC Sudwerk. "They were the better team, but we hung tough and had our chances."

Sudwerk's next game is noon June 6 against Davis Football Club. There are no games scheduled this Sunday, which falls on Memorial Day weekend. ##
