| Davis FC Defeats Sudwerk DAVIS, Calif., May 21 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk suffered its first loss of spring season Sunday, falling 6-5 to Davis Football Club on a blustery afternoon befitting the two clubs' longstanding rivalry. Down early 3-0 and then again 6-3 midway through the second half, the red-and-black refused to quit and managed to narrow the deficit to one goal before time ran out. "What a great game, and what a comeback," said Juan Carlos, president and CEO of FC Sudwerk. "A few more minutes and the outcome may have been different. My hat's off to DFC, which always pushes us to the limit." The match featured a downpour, making conditions especially slick and difficult, but did not stop the back-and-forth action that is one of the trademarks of this great rivalry. Sudwerk goals came from J.B. Rudell, who netted two, and speedy newcomer Shane Stowe, who had a hat trick. The red-and-black is off for Memorial Day Weekend and returns to action on Sunday, June 4, when it takes on Humboldt Grown, another one of its fiercest opponents, at 4 p.m. ## |
