Red Rallies, Black Falls

DAVIS, Calif., Feb. 22 (AP) -- FC Sudwerk's indoor teams came out on opposite sides of last-minute comebacks Sunday, as Red engineered a draw and Black dropped a heartbreaker.

Red remained unbeaten thanks to a heroic effort to bounce back from a 7-3 halftime deficit to a speedy, skillful Short Grass side. Red scored the first four goals after the intermission and then the two clubs traded off taking the lead.

Short Grass surged ahead 12-11 with two minutes remaining but Andrew LaMar, filling in for Capt. J.C. Mark, scored the equalizer in the final minute after taking a nice setup pass from Adam Bauer. Red benefitted from outstanding performances from goalie Craig Dandurand and its corps of women players.

Meanwhile, Black lost to Stone/Monkeys after leading 10-9 late in the second half. Stone/Monkeys scored three times in the final three minutes to come out on top.

Week No. 8 features a rematch of the Red-Black club grudge game played Jan. 18. Red won that 12-11. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. ##
