DAVIS, Calif., Nov. 2 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk stifled Positrons with a scintillating passing attack Wednesday night to record a 5-2 victory. Imer and Donn Cox scored two goals each to lead the way for the red-and-black and Mel Meyer added another as Sudwerk notched its second win of the season. While each of the goals was notable, the club's overall team effort proved most impressive, with Sudwerk holding the ball well and passing efficiently. The red-and-black dominated possession. In addition, goalkeeper Craig Dandurand turned in his best performance of the year, delivering two sensational saves and playing flawlessly. "What a treat this game was,"' said Juan Carlos, FC Sudwerk president and CEO. "Everything came together and it was a joy to watch." In the first half, Cox scored from 12 yards out after receiving a ball in the box and juking a defender before neatly placing a shot in the corner of the goal. Meyer scored on a header two yards from goal off a corner kick. But the two best goals of the game came in the second half. First, Cox received a spectacular through ball from defender Juan Carlos, running onto the ball behind Positrons' defense 40 yards from goal. Cox put a touch on the ball and then finished it with a sizzling shot from 20 yards that blasted through the keeper's hands. Imer tallied Sudwerk's fifth goal on a left-footed, arching shot from 35 yards that looped into the top of the goal. ## |
