Sudwerk 'Unlucky'

DAVIS, Calif., Nov. 2 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk gave its best performance of the season Sunday but fell 3-1 to Davis FC.

The red-and-black had the run of play, controlling possession and creating excellent scoring chances, but had trouble finishing.

"There's no shame in this loss -- we were unlucky," said Ramal Werdna, the club's president and CEO. "We played hard and passed wonderfully. If we keep this up, the goals and victories will come."

For a nice change, the club had a full roster with five subs. FC Sudwerk's midfielders clicked and newcomers Katherine Caputo and Danielle Sheaks added new depth to the team.

Adam Bauer scored Sudwerk's lone goal in the 87th minute. Davis FC scored on a penalty kick, a beautiful lob shot from outside the area and a Sudwerk defensive breakdown. DFC mustered few other shots, however.

Sudwerk's next game is 10 a.m. Nov. 16 against Humboldt Grown. ##
