FCS Falls in Season Finale

DAVIS, Calif., Nov. 15 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk lost its final game of the year Tuesday 2-1 to Renegade on an own goal.

The two sides played an even match and stood tied at 1 apiece after 45 minutes. But a bizarre play proved to be the red-and-black's undoing.

Midway through the second half, the Sudwerk goalie fell while making a save that caromed off him toward the goal line. As the goalie dived to grab the loose ball, Adam Bauer attempted to clear it off the line, inadvertantly knocking the ball into the goal.

Both squads struggled in the second half after an entertaining, back-and-forth first half.  Sudwerk's lone goal came in the 27th minute when Juan Carlos scored directly off a corner kick. ##
