| Two PKs Spur Sudwerk Loss to DFC
DAVIS, Calif., Oct. 1, 2006 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk gave up two penalty kicks and a sloppy late goal Sunday to lose 3-2 to Davis Football Club. In a very competitive match in which Sudwerk appeared to have the better of play, the red-and-black got goals from David Bowman and Imer. The teams were level at 1 apiece at the break. Aside from the two penalty kicks -- one called on Max Simmons in the first half for tripping just inside the area and the other on goalie Joncarlo Mark for taking out a DFC attacker at the far left edge of the box in the second half -- Davis Football Club created few goal-scoring chances. DFC converted both penalty kicks. The Sudwerk defense was solid and effective except on one play in the 82nd minute, when a blown clearance at the 18-yard line allowed a DFC striker to get his foot on the ball and send a weak, spinning lob just over Mark's reach into the net. FC Sudwerk's next game is 10 a.m. Sunday at Arroyo Park against Humboldt Grown. ## |
