Sudwerk Fields 2 Squads

DAVIS, Calif., Jan. 7 (Reuters) -- FC Sudwerk will enter two teams in DARSL's winter indoor league as it expands its off-season training, club officials announced Wednesday.

All told, the club will have 14 players divided among the squads, named FCS Red and FCS Black, that will compete in the 10-game season.

"We're excited about playing indoor soccer with so many talented players," said Ramal Werdna, FC Sudwerk's president and CEO. "We're positive this will produce a stronger outdoor team come springtime."

Red will be led by all-star goalie and defender J.C. Mark and will include club stalwarts Amy Toy and Adam Bauer as well as Jo Anne Bennett and rehabilitated goalkeeper Craig Dandurand. Midfielder Leon Shahinian and striker Phil Pareas, returning to play after a four-month absence due to injury, add depth to the Red's roster as fill-ins.

Black, captained by Andrew LaMar, will feature goal-scorer J.B. Rudell, the speedy Andrew Morin  and defenders Joe Cardoza, Renae Wurschmidt and Cathy Ross. Newcomer Mel Meyer rounds out Black's squad.

The season begins Jan. 11 and concludes in mid-March. ##
