| Showdown Looms DAVIS, Calif., Jan. 30 (Reuters) FC Sudwerk's two indoor squads rolled to comfortable victories on Sunday, setting the stage for a showdown between the teams in three weeks. Red polished off Humboldt Grown A 8-4 while Black beat a determined Mooninites side 13-6. Both squads improved to 4-0 on the season. "This is tremendous. This is the most consistent I've ever seen FC Sudwerk play," raved Ramal Werdna, the former club president who watches the team on satellite TV from his native Germany. Published reports have linked the crafty Werdna to the match-fixing scandal there, but he denies wrongdoing. As has been their custom, the Black Bombers jumped out to an early lead, taking an 8-2 advantage into halftime, thanks to sharp-shooter Joe Schmidt. After the break, Mooninites narrowed the margin to 10-6 before Black closed the deal. In the 2nd game, the Dirty Little Secrets took the same approach, blasting to an insurmountable 7-1 lead by the break. Battered keeper Craig Dandurand had another great outing as Red stifled HGA's attack. Game balls to Craig and Joe. Way to go guys! ## |
