It's Red Over Black!

DAVIS, Calif., Jan. 18 (AP) -- FC Sudwerk's first intra-club game offered a little bit of everything Sunday, as Red held on to record a hard-fought 12-11 victory over Black.

The heavily favored Red side -- featuring Adam Bauer, Leon Shahinian, Phil Pareas, Jo Anne Bennett and J.C. Mark in goal -- dominated early on by controlling possession and pounding Black's goal.

Red scored twice early in the second half to take a commanding 8-3 lead. Black rallied back, though, thanks to the playmaking of J.B. Rudell and goalkeeping of Joe Cardoza.

Black pulled within one goal with 2 minutes remaining and had chances to tie, including a shot by Andrew LaMar that caromed off the right post, but could not convert.

"This was a fun, competitive, balanced game that shows how much depth this club really has," said Ramal Werdna, the president and CEO of FC Sudwerk.

The winter indoor season continues Sunday with Red taking on Oldenfowl and Black playing Humboldt Grown B. ##
